(More customer reviews)Actually I was a little disappointed with the rack.It fits securely over my Terragate hitch bike rack, but the top opening isn't deep enough to put in a pair of skis back to back if they have binding plates.If you look closely at the photo, you will see that the one ski set has split plates, otherwise you would have to put them in side by side (halving the capacity of the rack). Skis without plates fit OK back to back.
Getting the twin tips in the rack as in the picture requires each ski to be put in the bottom slot separately, then fitted back to back and locked into the top slot.The top slot opens, the bottom slot doesn't - it has 2 wheel screws which widens it slightly.
Also better be sure your vehicle has mud flaps, there is no way to put the skis in a bag with this rack to keep them clean, unless you cover everything in one huge trash bag or motorcycle bag.
Another 1/2" depth on the top slot hinge would have been better.There is a narrow setting, a wide setting on the hinge - they need a superwide setting for skis with plates.Being able to open up the bottom slot to be able to put skis in a bag in the rack would have been nice too - keep the skis from picking up road grime.
Construction quality looks pretty good, and it has included locks for the top slot, so with the cable lock on the Terragate, and a lock on the hitch you are all set.
